What data we store

Account information: Name, phone number, email (optional), password (in encrypted form - we can never read it).

Location information: The location you provide while making a rescue request is linked only to that specific request, and is visible only to the assigned Rescuer and admin. A Sarpmitra/rescuer's general service area (district/taluka) is public, since citizens need to be able to find them.

Rescue request information: Address, type of animal, description, photo (if provided) - this is shared with the relevant rescuer and admin.

Uploaded photos: Rescue photos and profile photos are stored on our server. Only JPEG/PNG/WEBP photos are accepted.

Data Security

Passwords are encrypted using an industry-standard method (bcrypt). All data travels over HTTPS. Other than a Rescuer's phone number, no personally identifying information is kept public.

Why is a Rescuer's phone number public?

Rescuers make themselves available to help, so their phone number is shown on their profile so citizens can call them directly - similar to a shop's contact number. A citizen's phone number, on the other hand, is never made public.

Third-party services

OpenStreetMap is used to display locations. We do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
